DID YOU KNOW

Nell Brinkley, known for her early 20th-century illustrations and comic strips, is often considered one of the first female comic book artists. Her work predates many of the more commonly recognized figures in comic book history and focused heavily on young women in adventurous and romantic scenarios, earning her the nickname "The Queen of Comics." This Week’s Trivia Question (answer at the bottom): What is Wolverine’s true name?

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

💥 Zarobinski Pulp Media Interview!

Receiving a shipment from Thomas is always a delight as he customizes each box with his own brand of art. He knows I love Wolverine and has done some amazing sketches. Hit up his channel for some great deals and a chance at a custom box. I am stoked I finally got him to do an interview! - Nathan

Where can the community find you online?

Oh....That is an easy one....I constantly check my instagram all the time, it's ig@zarobinski_pulp_media.

In addition I frequent Madhouse comics and collectibles auctions and claim sales on a regular basis. They can be found on you tube in addition to Instagram. Now if your really lucky!!!! I do surprise pop up shows at the weirdest of times and not so often in WhatNot, my tag name there is Pulp_Media...

What’s in your personal collection? What are you collecting, reading, or hunting right now?

My P.C., that is a good one....My personal collection consists of mostly Wolverine related books. I.E. the X-Men, Wolverine titles...full spectrum of wolverine titles...In addition I love the original runs from when Image comics first started. It was a pivotal groundbreaking moment for the comic community and the artists themselves. I am currently on the look out for original art done by Liefield, and Rubenstein.

What are some valuable lessons you have learned along the way? Advice for someone looking to get into comic book selling?

Well, let me see....avoid FOMO, and have patience. Over the years and on many occasions I have been chasing certain books, and I find that once you get them they appear to pop up everywhere. So never rush to grab a book, especially when it is hot at that particular moment. Grab books when they are on the cheap. I.E. you come across a great deal... Or yah happen to find em at a local flea market or garage sale.

What tools do you use? What is your tech stack?

I currently use CLZ to get the fair market values, and in addition, believe it or not, I check Shortboxed. It is a great app to gauge current prices and there are a lot of deals to be had there. Now if yah want another good way to grab books... Jump on eBay, check ending soonest throw a low dollar amount in and browse what that algorithm pops out. You would be surprised at the deals that are out there. Just remember to check the shipping costs before you commit to buy.

What services does the comic book community need that currently don't exist?

I have been seeing a few services out there that have been whitening books...I think that would probably be my pick on that one. You know like when you get an unusual amount of grime on a book or water stains...services that remove that would help out the community. Oh in addition a website dedicated just to a list of scammers!!! That would definitely do the community justice.

Do you have any predictions for 2024?

Yes,....yes I do as a matter of fact..I think the prices are going to drop drastically, just from what I'm seeing on prices currently for mid ranged keys.

What is your origin story and where does your online name come from?

As far as origin story....I collected for years...I stopped for many years. But COVID occured and I found myself quarantined to my house and started looking up some of the books I had lying around...When I saw how much some of them were worth I was like OMG 😱. Immediately back in the game.

Now where does the name come from?? Well Zarobinski that's my last name. Pulp Media is my fascination... Henceforth Zarobinski Pulp Media!

I want to say thank you for taking the time to interview people and put them out there..

Till next time stay safe happy hunting and nuff said......

Trivia Question Answer: Wolverine was born as James Howlett in northern Alberta, Canada (approximately near Cold Lake), during the late 19th century, purportedly to rich farm owners John and Elizabeth Howlett, though he is actually the illegitimate son of the Howletts' groundskeeper, Thomas Logan.
